Project JMD Auqa Power Pvt. Ltd.

Department of Power, Government of Meghalaya, a nodal agency for development of hydropower projects in Meghalaya, has allotted Umran Small HE Project (USHEP) for development to JMD Aqua Power Private Limited (JAPPL), Faridabad, Haryana, India.

Work on development of USHEP has been taken up by JAPPL. The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for execution of USHEP was signed between Government of Meghalaya and JAPPL on 07.01.2014. As per the terms and conditions of MOA, JAPPL is required to carry out the discharge measurement in Umran Stream for a period extending over at least two lean seasons, conduct detailed survey and investigations of project area and prepare a Detailed Project Report for submission to the Department of Power, Government of Meghalaya.

USHEP is located on Umran Stream with weir near village Jyntru and Kynjoin and powerhouse near village Saiden. The top of the diversion structure is proposed at El. 532 m for an installed capacity of 13.50 MW. The project components sizing is carried out corresponding to optimised project capacity of 13.50 MW. The surface powerhouse is proposed near Saiden village and it is located in South-West direction at an approximate distance of 12.6 km (by road) from the district headquarters at Nongpoh town in Meghalaya. Nongpoh town is connected by National Highway-40 from nearest railhead and airport at Guwahati. The diversion site is approachable by 51 km long National highway from Guwahati to Jyntru Village, followed by 1 km long black topped village road and subsequently through a 1.5 km long kachha road.
